Hi, I'm Sandra, the founder of Turnt Tech Teacher.
Funny enough, Turnt Tech Teacher really started with me sitting at my desk at NASA coming up with a cybersecurity rap. I remember thinking, wait... this could actually be something.
But when I look back, the idea probably started way before that.
Growing up, I used to make up songs to help teach my siblings math. Years later, I found myself in cybersecurity doing something similar in a completely different way.
I was training and mentoring junior analysts, breaking down technical concepts, answering questions, and finding different ways to make complicated information make sense.
Teaching has always been a part of me. Music has always been a part of me. Cybersecurity just gave me a reason to put the two together.
I've spent 8 years in cybersecurity, including work as a former NASA senior cybersecurity professional and as a cybersecurity subject matter expert at the Department of Homeland Security, while also teaching cybersecurity and developing curriculum. I hold a Master's in Cybersecurity Technology, which shapes how I build and explain the material in every course.
And one thing kept standing out to me. People can study something over and over and still struggle to recall it when the pressure is on. Meanwhile, we can hear the beginning of a song we haven't played in years and somehow know exactly what comes next.
That became the foundation for Turnt Tech Teacher.
I started thinking beyond: How do I explain this concept? I wanted to know: How do I explain it in a way that someone can find their way back to it later?
Sometimes that's through a song. Sometimes it's a memory clue. Sometimes it's an analogy, a scenario, or one buzzword that suddenly unlocks everything else you learned.
That's what I build into Turnt Tech Teacher today.
I want people to walk away knowing more than the "right answer." I want you to understand why it's the answer, remember what you learned, and be able to talk about it confidently in your own words.
And if we can make cybersecurity a little more fun in the process? Even better. That's kind of the point.
